All about Keto Bread

One of our most popular items this summer has been our Keto Bread.  Super low carb with only 1 gram of carbohydrates per slice, it's the perfect way to add a little bit of variety to your diet.  This week, we're sharing a few of our favourite ways to use keto bread.


Keto French Toast



2 whole eggs

1/4-1/3 cup heavy cream

2 slices keto bread

2 tbsp butter (or coconut oil)



Heat your butter in pan on medium until melted.  As butter is melting, whisk together your eggs and cream.  Add salt/pepper if desired.  Coat your bread on both sides in egg mixture.  Transfer egg dipped bread to your pan and cook on both sides until golden brown.  


Keto Cinnamon Toast



2 slices of keto bread

2 tbsp butter (or coconut oil)

pinch of cinnamon/stevia



Set your toaster oven to broil.  Spread 1 tbsp of butter on each slice of keto bread.  Top with sprinkled cinnamon and stevia (we like Truvia brown sugar blend for this one!).  Transfer to toaster oven and cook approx. 5-10 minutes or until butter is melted and toast is crispy.


Keto Grilled Cheese



2 slices keto bread

4 tbsp butter (or coconut oil)

4-6 slices of cheese/meat



Heat your butter in pan on medium until melted.  Additionally butter one side of each piece of keto bread.  Place the butter side down in pan.  Add your cheese and meat as desired and then top with second slice of keto bread with the butter side up.  Cook until golden brown on both sides and cheese is melted.  

Ideas - Ham, Swiss Cheese & Spicy Mustard, Monterey Jack & Beef, Cheddar & Beef, Havarti & Pork

Smart Snacking

Snacking can be a great tool to help curb hunger, restore energy levels and keep you going until your next meal.  The key to snacking is to have an evenly balanced snack that includes a mixture of macronutrients.  Adding in some fat and protein will help keep blood sugar stable and satiety levels high!  We've got some great options to snack smart to share with you today.

Smart Snack Ideas

Protein Balls - These guys are super transportable and easy to just throw in a ziplock and hit the road.  They are fine at room temperature so they can be taken out on a hike or bike trip.  They're also full of all the good stuff like flax, chia and added protein.  The flax and chia are high in omega 3's so you also get the benefit of some extra good fats.  

Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins  -  These guys have that extra bit of protein added in so they do a the perfect job curbing hunger.  No added sugar either so you won't get any blood sugar spikes and crashes.  They're great on their own or even with a little bit of grass fed butter or peanut butter on top.  They're nut free too so they can easily be sent to school as a snack or late breakfast.

Keto Cups - Right out of the freezer these cute little guys are the perfect craving crusher.  They come in a few different flavours too to suit all your needs.  Chocolate Peanut Butter, Blueberry, Raspberry, Strawberry Cheesecake and Orange Creamsicle!  Very low in carbohydrates, they will satisfy your sweet craving without overloading you with sugar.  Eat them right out of the freezer!

Protein Cheesecakes/Cakes & Keto Cakes - We make a wide assortment of cakes and cheesecakes.  These are the best for those late night cravings.  You know when you're sitting down finally after a long day and realize you want a little treat!  Our cheesecakes pack in a passive protein punch with anywhere from 14-22 grams of protein per slice and our Keto Cakes ring in at only 4-5 grams of carbohydrates per slice.  You'll sleep through the night with a full stomach and solid, stable blood sugar levels.

Snacking can be a great tool to keep you feeling your best.  The key is to manage snacking and make it intentional.  Mindlessly eating crackers out of the box or constantly going back for a scoop of ice cream out of the tub is unsatisfying and probably has you eating more than you think.  Pick a snack that is balanced and will satisfy your need. All the options

This week, Instagram launched a new feature on their stories where you can ask a question.  We love this feature and thought it was great to hear back from some of our clients.  We got a few questions regarding different categories of baking and thought it would be great to share some of our responses here.  We're happy to offer a wide range of categories to suit many of our clients.  To date, we can offer treats for those who are keto, gluten free, high protein and vegan.  This week, we're going to break it down a bit further.



Keto - Anything we make with the name Keto in the title will offer less than 5 grams of carbohydrates per serving.  These items are higher on the fat scale and lower in carbohydrates.  You definitely don't need to be following the Keto diet in order to enjoy these but if you are, they will fit perfectly into your day.  A few of these items are flourless and the items which do use flour have either almond or coconut flour.  We use Truvia as a sweetener, all of which results in a lower net carbohydrate count.  In the Keto family, you'll currently find Keto Cups, Keto Cookies, Keto Cake and 2 kinds of Keto Bread.  

Protein - Anything we make with the word protein in the title will have some added protein.  We increase the protein content in a few different ways with a clean source whey, eggs, greek yogurt, nut butters and beans.  These options are the perfect breakfast on the go, post workout or on the go snack or a late night craving crusher.  The added protein helps to level out blood sugar, keep you full longer and assist with recovery.

Vegan - We make a few vegan options which are free from all animal products.  If you have  sensitivity to eggs or dairy these would be a great option.  We currently have 2 items on the menu, brownies and cookies but look for more coming soon.  

Gluten Free - We have a few options that we make completely gluten free.  We never use any wheat flour only oats, coconut or almond flour.  However, if you're Celiac and need to ensure 100% gluten free we have a few options for you.  Any of our muffins, brownies, cakes and keto cups will be gluten free.  

Our hope is to always have a healthy treat available to all types of diets.  We're always playing around and expanding our menu so stay tuned.  We also love suggestions and ideas so if there's something you are after, shoot us a message.  We love a challenge to health-ify a treat!

The sugar high...

Very often, someone will walk by our booth at the Market, gaze over all our treats and immediately put their arms into an X.  They shake their heads and say things like "Oh, I can't have that!"  I always realize they think our products are full fat, full sugar, ect.  Sometimes I get that chance to chat with them and explain what we offer but other times they're already running away in fear of caving into a craving.  This week, I thought we'd take some time to talk about what makes our products different from a standard treat and why you can have just one without any negative consequences.

It's my birthday and I'll have cake if I want to!

This past week, I celebrated my birthday.  I won't go tell you how old I am but I will tell you about the amazing cakes we had.  Last year, there was a major cake catastrophe.  Nobody brought a cake!  I showed up to my birthday party with no cake... what's a birthday without cake?!  This year, everyone came prepared.  We had a small gathering of family and friends complete with 4 different cakes.  I think everyone who came brought one!  I also came prepared and made my own cake.

This got me to thinking about some fun and new cakes we can offer.  We have always offered our Protein Birthday Cake which is a white cake with white frosting and sprinkles and new a few months back added our Keto Cake.  This week, we updated 2 new flavours of cakes to include Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese frosting and my personal favourite, Red Velvet with Cream Cheese Frosting

 All our cakes are made without the use of white flour or white sugar.  We use either gluten free oats, coconut flour or almond flour.  Our sweetness is derived from Truvia which is a blend of stevia & erythritol.  This makes our cakes perfect for those who are diabetic, celiac, following a low carbohydrate or low sugar diet and basically anyone who wants to make their health a priority!  You could of course, order any of our cakes for special occasions such as birthdays, graduations, ect.  However, these cakes are so healthy that you could order one up just for fun.  Have a slice for breakfast, for a snack, for a late night treat, girls night.... whenever!  Everything is under 25 grams of carbohydrates and less than 150 calories per slice!
